Maintaining release support and improving functionality

(updated from the original 6.16 article published November 2020)

Following a review of our Invu accounts (and a timely prompt from the vendor) we note that many of our customers are running old versions of the Invu platform.

Your current Invu platform is no doubt providing your company with the service/functionality you expect and with no apparent compelling reason to update, you are probably thinking ‘why change?’.

There are several practical reasons why the update should be considered and new functionality that potentially could prove useful to your business. The good news is that the latest version of the software is free provided you have a current Invu Care (support) contract.

In terms of practicality, the new version brings support for the latest server platforms (Windows Server 2019), the latest security protocols and the latest Microsoft Office versions (such as 365). It should also be noted that Invu only officially offer full support (patches, hotfixes etc) for the last two major versions – currently 6.15 is the oldest version fully supported.

What about functionality?

6.17 brings some more specific functionality around the current ‘hot topic’ of email management:

  • The introduction of Email Manager Auto Saved Conversations, providing a simple way for users to automate their email indexing.
  • Added additional capabilities to our Email functionality by introducing support for Exchange Web Services.
  • Centralised the configuration of Scanned folders for Email Assistant, making it easier to enable Sent Item scanning for all users.
  • Introduced connectivity enhancements for Email Assistant, to improve stability when connected to unreliable networks.

6.14 was a major refresh for the Invu platform with changes to the client appearance, the new Invu ‘printer’ (allowing a direct PDF print to be sent into Invu from any application), improvements to email drag n ‘drop, GDPR security refinements… a review of the key changes and refinements can be viewed in the vendor video below:

We would strongly recommend that you consider updating your Invu platform to the latest version if only to ensure the continued stability and support of your installation. Please do get in contact with our support team to discuss the update or indeed any aspect of the Invu platform current deployed.

Please also take the time to review our monthly customer newsletter (usually published the Wednesday of the last full week in a month) as we do include pertinent product information, advice and advance warning of any changes that may impact you as a customer. If you have not seen our newsletter previously, please do check your spam folder or use this subscription confirmation link to ensure you are subscribed to our customer mailing list.
