(not to be confused with 7.1)

Available from April 2024, DocuWare brings another round of functionality improvements to their document management and business process automation application. With 7.10 there are updates impacting day to day functions, security, workflow and integrations, along with a few other tweaks along the way. Here are a few of the major highlights:

Table calculations in DocuWare Forms

Forms has introduced a complete table calculation feature. Form designers can not only perform calculations between numeric columns within a table, but can also sum columns across multiple tables and use other numeric fields in the form and fixed values to create a formula.

  • Calculations are performed automatically, eliminating the possibility of human errors and saving valuable staff time
  • Calculation results are already displayed when filling the form
  • Faster further processing since the calculated values can be used as index entries

Import and processing of any XML documents

DocuWare can now import any XML document and read its data automatically. The XML file no longer has to follow a specific syntax.

  • Process all document types in XML format
  • Process all XML invoice standards
  • Automate purchase-to-pay processes that are based on XML
  • Avoid input errors completely by automatically using XML metadata

DocuWare Outlook Add-in (DocuWare Cloud)

The new DocuWare Add-in enables an easy connection of DocuWare Cloud with Microsoft Outlook, both with the web and desktop version. Users can store their emails in a DocuWare tray or directly in a file cabinet, choosing which attachments to transfer to DocuWare with.

The add-in compliments DocuWare's integration capabilities with Outlook clients. Unlike the DocuWare Connect to Outlook desktop app, the add-in is suitable for Microsoft's web and online versions in all browsers, including Mac operating systems.

  • Easy integration of Microsoft Outlook online versions with DocuWare for email
  • archiving
  • Outlook integration without the need for a desktop app
  • Mac users can now archive easily their Outlook mails in DocuWare

Authorisation of all DocuWare components via oAuth2 (All Desktop components)

All server and desktop connections are now using the modern and secure oAuth2 standard which is replacing our previous cookie-based method. Instead of the central log in to DocuWare Desktop, each desktop application is now authenticated separately to DocuWare via oAuth2 at start-up. For this purpose, a browser window with the DocuWare login opens at the first start.

  • Enhanced security
  • Fit for the future

When?

There are far more updates including two new licenced options to handle enhanced imports (DocuWare storageRobot) and exports (DocuWare docXporter) but that's for another time.

For our DocuWare Cloud customers you should expect to see update notifications in the next week or so as the upgrade is planned. Please make sure to update the DocuWare Desktop Apps after the upgrade to take advantage of the new features.

For on-premise customers, DocuWare is targeting mid-April availability - please contact PacSol Support for confirmation and for the installation prerequisites. Please remember, with an active maintenance and support contract, your organisation  is entitled to run the latest version.
