Removing the old fossil*

Situated on the lawn as it is, I can’t quite work out if my old Glow-worm boiler is 100% efficient or 0% efficient. Either way I think that qualifies for ‘extremely’ efficient / inefficient. Okay so it no longer heats our house, but then it doesn’t burn fossil fuels now either, so I guess it is ‘swings-and roundabouts’.

The bigger picture is that it is being replaced with an Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP). By the time you read this it will all be done and the lawn will be clear of the Glow-worm, which incidentally, weighs a ton!

peter-fly-gas-unsplashIt is an interesting experience. Components and parts for the ASHP arrived from a variety of sources and at various times. It was hard for the guys to keep track of what had arrived and the accompanying documentation. Often there has been scratching of heads and cries of “have you got the <thingy> yet?”

This, of course, is a problem common in many jobs, regardless of industry. The time spent trying to lay hands on the right piece of information can quickly add up. In some cases that might be how some people spend most of their time.

There is a better way of course. A way that ensures that everything is brought into a document management system and correctly indexed. This is not rocket science but does take some planning and an intentional attitude. PacSol have worked with companies of vastly different sizes over many years. Get in touch and together we can chart a way to a more efficient and less head scratching future.

*the old fossil fuel appliance that is – specifically the boiler.
